Faced with numerous fatal accidents caused by inappropriate speed on the national highway E077 between Chalkida and Psachni, the authorities of the city of Evia, in Greece, in collaboration with the Panos Mylonas Road Safety Institute, have taken concrete measures to improve road safety. Among these measures, the installation of EVOLIS Vision radar speed signs has shown outstanding results.
4 EVOLIS Vision speed sign were installed along a 2.49 miles stretch, one of the country’s most dangerous roads, where 30% of fatal accidents are due to excessive speed.
This device displays vehicle speeds in real time, encouraging drivers to slow down and adopt more responsible driving behaviors.
The mayor of Chalkida, Eleni VAKA, emphasized the importance of pedestrian safety and the collaboration with multiple agencies to manage traffic, especially with the Panos Mylonas Institute.
According to a local police officer, the results achieved with the installation of EVOLIS Vision speed signs are impressive. These devices not only control speed but also increase driver awareness through preventive messages tailored to driving behavior.
The analysis of collected data allows local authorities to continuously monitor traffic and adjust measures as needed. Since the speed signs were installed, there have been no serious accidents on this section of road.
